Corinthians manager Tite has accepted an offer to coach Brazil, the club's president said on Wednesday.

The 55-year-old, who led Corinthians to two Serie A titles, the Copa Libertadores and the World Club Cup, will replace Dunga, who was fired on Tuesday, Roberto de Andrade told reporters.

Tite, whose proper name is Adenor Leonardo Bacchi, was the overwhelming favourite to get the job after Dunga's side were knocked out of the Copa America at the group stage on Sunday for the first time since 1987.

Brazil have lost their way in recent years and have failed to win a major tournament since 2007 when Dunga led them to the Copa America during his first spell in charge. They are in sixth place in the South American qualifying group for the 2018 World Cup, one spot outside the qualifying places.

The top four teams qualify automatically for Russia and the fifth-placed side enter an inter-continental playoff.
