Having taken seven wickets against Al Barkat (Kurla) in the MSSA Harris Shield final on Wednesday, Shreyansh Bogar from Rizvi Springfield might have felt he's played his part. He did expect his side to put up a handsome lead but at 109/6 and facing a lead of 156 runs, Bogar, the number nine batsman who will take strike on Thursday, knows that it's now time for his bat to do the talking.

After dismissing Rizvi for 210 on the opening day, Al Barkat started at 28/1 with Rehan Khan and Asim Shaikh adding a 60-run partnership for the second wicket taking the score to 79/2. Bogar came into the action at 80/3 and created havoc dismissing the next six batsman within 30 overs to bundle out the Kurla side for 163.

With a 47-run lead, it was Rizvi on the frontfoot. But the slow wicket as seen on the opening day proved fruitful for the Al Barkat spinners as well with Rajesh Sardar (2/38) and Rizvi Meer (3/40) striking at regular intervals and not allowing any partnership to go beyond 30 runs on a day that say 15 wickets fall.

With Rizvi enjoying a 156-run lead and with two days of play remaining, Bogar, who is batting on three alongside captain Shoaib Siddique on 33, now has to make his each run count.

"The seven wickets are now a thing of the past. It's a very slow wicket and is turning a lot out there. I thought my job was done, but it seems the runs that I score will be more valuable. It will spin even more tomorrow. That means scoring runs will be tough. Yes, that will help me when I get the chance to bowl. But first things first," said the 15-year-old who resides in Mulund. "We hope to add at least another 100 runs for them to chase. A target of 250 will be a good one to defend," he added.

Brief scores: Rizvi Springfield (Bandra) 210 all out in 72.1 overs (S Varma 33, H Tripathi 32, Y Jaiswal 32; R Sardar 5/68) & 109/6 in 29 overs (S Siddique 33*, S Pandey 32; R Sardar 2/38) vs Al Barkat (Kurla) 163 all out in 63.4 overs (R Khan 37, A Shaikh 30; S Bogar 7/56)
