'Adamant' David Warner claims sore thumb will not stop him from playing in Boxing Day Test

An adamant Australia's opening batsman David Warner has claimed that a sore thumb would not keep him out of the squad for the Boxing Day Test against India.

Australia, who lead the four-match series 2-0, would start their preparations for the third Test with a training session ahead of Friday's opening day at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Despite leading India in the series, the Australians have had to handle a significant injury toll, as captain Michael Clarke has had hamstring surgery and Mitch Marsh would miss Melbourne with a hamstring injury, Stuff.co.nz reported.

Warner, who was also struck on the thumb while batting in the second innings, said that he would definitely be playing, adding that he would be doing everything he can.

The opener claimed that it is obviously a bit painful, as it's the one he broke before, but added that he is surely not missing a Boxing Day Test.

Marsh's injury would mean a stunning Test debut for Queensland batsman Joe Burns, who has been backed by the domestic side's coach Stuart Law to handle the immense pressure. Law has predicted that Burns would not take a backward step against India.
