AB de Villiers has been in exceptional form from the past 2 years. And his commitment towards the sport has paid off.

The South African broke Sir Vivian Richards' record of being the only batsmen in ICC's top 10 all time rankings in both Tests and ODI's. The current No 1 ODI batsman, secured this spot during his unbeaten knock of 65 against New Zealand in semifinal of the World Cup 2015.

de Villiers reached a career-best rating of 902 points and broke into the top 10 of ICC ODI Batsmen Ratings of all-time. Players make it to the prestigious list by showcasing their brilliant form and skill over a long period of time.

Alongwith his 8th spot in the all-time ODI rankings, he is also placed 10th in the all-time Test rankings with a career best of 935 points. This makes him only the second batsman after Sir Vivian Richards to acheive this feat.

The West Indian legend leads the all-time ODI Ratings list for batsmen with a career best of 935 points, which he achieved in 1985. Zaheer Abbas (931), Greg Chappell (921), David Gower (919), Dean Jones (918), Javed Miandad (910) and Brian Lara (908) are between Richards and de Villiers in this list.

However, Richards is placed 6th with a career best of 938 points in all-time Test rankings, a position he shares with fellow countrymen Sir Clyde Walcott and Sir Garry Sobers alongwith recently retired Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara.

Australian legend Sir Don Bradman leads the Test Ratings with an astonishing 961 points. Sir Len Hutton (945), Sir Jack Hobbs, Ricky Ponting (both 942) and Peter May (941) are all ahead of Richards in the list.

Hashim Amla is the only batsman with a possibilty to join Richards and de Villiers. The South African Test skipper is at 9 in ODI (901 points) and 26 in Test (907 points).

Glenn McGrath, Muttiah Muralitharan, Malcolm Marshall and Curtly Ambrose are present in the Top 10 in both Test and ODI Ratings for the Bowlers list.

Of modern day bowlers, the Proteas duo of Vernon Philander (at No 6; 912 points) and Dale Steyn (at No. 11, 909 points) are the highest ranked players in the Test Ratings while Pakistani spinner Saeed Ajmal is the highest ranked bowler in the ODI Ratings.
