A total of 35 sportspersons from the state were awarded the prestigious Shiv Chhatrapati Awards for the year 2008-09 here on Monday.
Others, including coaches, officials and physically challenged sportspersons were also honoured on the occasion.
While giving away the awards, Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said that the state government will build around 54 sports stadiums at the Taluka level by the end of this year.
