The gallant soldiers from the Indian Para-athletes showed tenacity at the recent 2017 World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Beijing where Havildar R Someswara Rao of the 11 Madras battalion won a gold medal in 200 meters while Sepoy Hokato Sema of the 9 Assam won a bronze medal in standing shot put.

Someswara Rao raced in the T-44 category and completed it in 25.29 seconds

Someswara Rao was the fastest Indian blade runner at the recently held 17th National Para Athletics Championship in Jaipur, where he completed a 100 meters race in a record time of sub 12 seconds.

India finished fourth in the event held in Beijing after bagging a gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
