Due to political unrest,  Fehaid Al-Deehani of Kuwait participated in the Summer Olympic Games of 2016 as an Independent Olympic Athlete. Little did he know that he would be the first IOA to win the gold at the Olympic Games and the first to win medal since the 1992 Barcelona Games.

Due to political unrest,  Fehaid Al-Deehani of Kuwait participated in the Summer Olympic Games of 2016 as an Independent Olympic Athlete. Little did he know that he would be the first IOA to win the gold at the Olympic Games and the first to win a medal since the 1992 Barcelona Games.

That was not all, Day 5 saw Kohei Uchimura win the men's all-round gymnastics title for the second straight Olympic Games, the first time anyone has done that since 1972.
