After the defeat of Argentina at the finals of Copa America, Lionel Messi announced his retirement from international football. Rightly dubbed as the greatest player of this generation, he was not just an icon for his fans, but to lovers of the sport across the globe.
This did overshadow Chile's win over the mighty Argentina. The South America country defended the title with spectacular performance throughout the tournament.
Chile defeated Argentina 0-0 (4-2) by a penalty shootout after Messi missed a penalty kick. This was a deja vu moment. The history repeated itself in just a year.
Let's take a look at dejected Messi and cheering Chile.
