Sachin Tendulkar, revered by the masses as the greatest Test batsman after Don Bradman, has completed 21 years of playing cricket for the country.
After playing in six World Cups, Tendulkar finally experienced the proudest moment of his life when India, led by MS Dhoni, lifted the ICC cricket World Cup 2011. Putting in an astounding performance, Tendulkar scored 482 runs at an average of 53.55 to be India’s leading run-scorer.
Just a century away from his 100th international ton, Tendulkar is also the first and only player in Test history to score 50 centuries. With a series of other records to his name, Tendulkar has also been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan and the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna for his contribution to Indian cricket.
Is it time for Tendulkar to be awarded the Bharat Ratna? Or is he too young for the country's highest civilian award?
