Premier Futsal 2016 Final: Mumbai 5s beat Kochi 5s after a dramatic penalty shootout

And that is it. Ryan Giggs' Mumbai are the champions of the Premier Futsal season. What a way for the start to the tournament. Giggsy just doesn't stop winning does he. Poor for Salgado and Kochi who've been massive throughout. 

Mumbai are in the lead. Their goalkeeper scored. Time for Kochi to score or lose it. 

Damn. Ryan Giggs missed it. And so did Salgado. 

Another sudden death beckons. 

Try telling me this doesn't matter. 

Wow. What a strong shot from the Mumbai reserve keeper 

We are now level and in sudden death. 

It’s time for the Futsal version of penalty shoot outs. 

Mumbai misses the first one. 

Kochi 

Jaginho by the way doesn't go the standard way and scores. 

In a futsal match by the way, you can dribble as well but you only have five seconds to score. That’s not a lot of time. 

This is going to be decided by a penalty shoot out. There's a lot of pressure to make this tournament look good but wow, what a tournament. More Mumbai fans because of the location but what fantastic last seconds. So much drama. 

And Angellot rushes out to hug Falcao who’s sitting outside. Salgado is back. This is getting exciting. If thigns stand the same, it will go to penalties.

Goal (Mumbai 1-1 Kochi)

Salgado is getting patched up outside. It’s remarkable that despite 34 shots (24 Mumbai, 10 Kochi) there has only been one goal so far.. And Angellot makes it 1-1. Whoaa. 

As things stand, it looks like the ‘psychopath’ as Salgado was described by a former teammates is all set to win the Premier Futsal League’s inaugural edition.

4th Quarter

How did Angellot miss that? There are five minutes to go. 

Mumbai’s Angellot did brilliantly to beat two players but failed to put that in. This is the end of the third quarter. Will Ryan Giggs’s Mumbai do a Manchester United? This hasn’t been very high scoring but it can change very soon. 

Oh. Michel Salgado thought he’d got one over Giggs again after shooting but it was an indirect free-kick and the goal doesn’t stand. 

It’s time for the second half. Mumbai in light blue and Kochi in purple in case you forgot. 

The first half is over and there’s only 20 minutes of the tournament left. 

Mumbai are trying hard to break Kochi down but to no avail. The second quarter is about to end, just a minute to go. 

The first quarter has ended and it is advantage Kochi.  

GOAL

 And Kochi have scored.

An easy ball to the far post sees Moraes tucks it home with the ease of a pool shark making his favourite shot.  

And it begins. The final is here. Time for the climax. By the way doesn’t the two kits look too similar?
 

OMG. Kochi almost scored. The ball hit the inside the post but somehow they missed it. Giggsy always had good lucky in finals when he’s not facing Barcelona.  

By the way Chanpreet is in esteemed company. In his illustrious career, Ryan Giggs has won 13 Premier League winners’ medals and two Champions League medals while Michel Salgado has four Spanish La Liga winners’ medals and two Champions League medals. 

Awww. This is a real Indian touch. Chanpreet parents are now talking to the anchor and they seem thrilled about their son. Sharmaji’s son can go to hell. By the way, the anchor has an accent thicker than Ryan Giggs's Welsh accent.
