All of a sudden you have been named as the Indian captain, how much pressure are you under?
I am under no additional pressure. I have led the Chandigarh side earlier in the Primer Hockey League and for a couple of other matches in the Canada tour last month.
The captain has to be accountable for all the errors his team makes. How do you look at it?
Pressure to perform will help me give the best as an individual and the team as well. I will make sure that the team fares well and India make waves among the entire hockey playing nations.
It’s a team game and we can do well only if everybody contributes. What according to you is your team’s strength?
Our attack is good. It’s really quick and aggressive. I am confident that our forwards can give a tough time to best of the defenders in the world. I know we can do it.
What can we expect from the team? Do we have any chance to win the title?
Our first match against New Zealand will be a crucial one. If we win that, we will surely top the pool. We will give our best and obviously try to remain unbeaten as this will add to our confidence in the upcoming Champions Trophy and World Cup.
