'Chappell is the biggest failure in cricket'

In a vicious attack on the Indian cricket team, former coach Greg Chappell has said that the side lacks leaders and does not have a team culture. He said Indians lack leadership
culture because, from an early age, parents and teachers
take all the decisions. DNA examines the issue.

Chappell is the biggest failure in cricket
Who is Greg Chappell? Does he think himself to be a God of cricket? Who has given him an authority to make such comments? When he was the coach of Indian team, as far as his on-off field relationship with the players is concerned, it was nowhere near the word ‘clean’. What he is saying is simply out of frustration, which he experienced when he was coach of the Indian team. The onus is always on the coach to extract the best performance from the players and Chappell has miserably failed. Due to his weaknesses and fanatic approach, being coach of the Indian team was his worst times. The same team after Chappell’s resignation did a good job under Gary Kirsten’s coaching. The same team has won the world cup and has been in the top three slot. After one bad series, he cannot label the Indian team to be lacking leadership or team culture. Probably, he has made these comments under the influence of alcohol or mental derailment. He is the biggest failure in the world of cricket.

He is saying this for selling his book
Whatever Greg Chappell has said about Indian team lacking leadership qualities and team culture is his opinion.

I don’t give much importance to what he is saying. Probably he is doing it to sell his book. I have been associated with the team and have not observed any lack of leadership or team spirit in the Indian team. When the team has been at number one position, isn’t it all because of leadership qualities? How much importance one has to give to what Chappell is saying depends on each individual.

We don’t need an outsider to teach us
What right does he have to comment on the Indian cricket team? I feel that he should make such statements about Australia and Ricky Ponting’s captaincy. He is asking for cheap publicity and I don’t know why he makes such comments? I feel that he should comment about his own country (Australia) than India. This is not called for as we have our own way of functioning and we very well know
how to keep our house clean. We don’t need someone from outside to teach us what is wrong and right.
Anshuman Gaekwad, Former Indian coach

Chappell should not say anything against the team
Just because Greg Chappell was a failure when he was the coach of the Indian cricket team, it does not mean that he can say anything against the team. The Indian team has been in the number one slot and has produced many great cricketers and this is because of the team spirit. Without team spirit, the Indian team would have been a failure, but that is not the case. It has always been in the top five teams in the international cricketing arena. The Indian team lacks leadership. Kapil Dev was an exception, but the team spirit has always been strong. What Chappell is saying is untrue. I think Kapil Dev was the only captain who used to take risks and inspire the team.

There is no truth in Chappell’s comments
Since the Indian cricket team is on a losing spree, everyone is talking only about their weakness with complete disregard for the team’s achievements so far. This is not new and it has always been the same for Indian cricketers. Once the team starts winning, the same people will appreciate the team. As the coach of Indian cricket team, Chappell could not do anything. Hence, he has no right to make such comments regarding the Indian team. Everyone knows about the on-off field behaviour of Australian cricket players, especially, the on-field behaviour with the Indian team. Indian cricket team has always been considered as world’s best.

Chappell’s remarks indicate his resentment for
Indian team. His comments have no truth.
