Here's what happened yesterday (Suday):

Badminton: Saina Nehwal won the third medal for India after China's Xin Wang retired hurt from the bronze play-off.

Tennis: Meanwhile, glamorous mixed doubles pair of Leander Paes and Sania Mirza went down in the quarter finals.

Boxing: L Devendro Singh made it to the round of last eight.

Walking: Irfan Kolothum Thodi finished 10th in the men's 20 km race walk.

Rowing: Sandeep Kumar and Manjeet Singh got the 19th slot in the men's lightweight double scull.

At 1 pm, Manavjit Singh Sandh will be contesting in the Men's trap category of shooting.

Boxing: It was a lean morning for Indian participants on Day 9 of the Olympic Games, but controversies continued to dog their campaign in the ring with Manoj Kumar falling by the wayside after losing a close pre- quarterfinal bout and then crying foul.

The 64kg fighter came out of the ring and said he was cheated after the verdict went 20-16 in favour of his British opponent, Thomas Stalker, in a thrilling bout at the ExCel Arena here late last night.

The 26-year-old Manoj fought well, but appeared to be distinctly unlucky not to get points, before exploding with his mouth.

Badminton: Men's badminton singles bronze medal match

China's Chen Long won the Olympic bronze medal in the men's badminton singles at the 2012 London Games on Sunday. Chen beat South Korea's Lee Hyun Il 2-1 at Wembley Arena in London.

Swimming: Swimming's governing body presented Michael Phelps with a special statuette on Saturday with a silver plaque on the base hailing "the greatest Olympic athlete of all time."

The winner of 18 Olympic golds, and 22 medals in total, smiled, almost shyly, as he addressed the subject of greatness after the last competitive race of his career at the London Games.

Swimming: Missy Franklin capped her first Olympics with a fourth gold and a second world record in 24 hours on Saturday with a performance that crowned the 17-year-old's arrival as America's new swimming queen.

It could also launch the bubbly teenager on the trail of becoming the greatest female Olympian of all-time with Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina, winner of nine golds, a reachable target should she forge ahead to another couple of Olympics. —Reuters
