Major Update of India v/s Bangladesh 3rd ODI.

India v/s Bangladesh 3rd ODI: India save blushes by avoiding whitewash

India has won the match by 77 runs saving themselves from the embarrassment of a humiliating whitewash. Bangladesh truly outwitted India in the first two encounters, but the 2011 WC champions came to their own in the third match. It was a clinical performance by India and the team can finally go for a well deserved break. Bangladesh will soon square off with mighty South Africa.

The biggest takeaway from the series is that the Bangla Tigers can no longer be taken for granted. They have upped their game a few notches. But it will be interesting to see if they can emulate such performance in the future.

Here's how the 3rd ODI unfolded.

LIVE UPDATES

22:33 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

Suresh Raina has been adjudged man of the match. Breakout talent Mustafizur Rahman is deservingly the Man of the series.  Bangladesh has won the series 2-1. After a whitewash against Pakistan, it is no mean feat to back it up with a series win against mighty Indians.

India showed their batting prowess in this match. Shikhar Dhawan in the top of the order and MSD at no 4 gave the team a strong background. Late strikes by Suresh Raina and other batters ensured India pose a commendable total.
In reply, Bangladesh started steadily. But almost all of their players flattered to decieve. Soumya Sarkar, Sabbir, Litton Das all got start, but no one could manage to capitalise to score big. Indian spinners managed to tie down the Bangla batters effectively. The likes of Axar Patel and Stuart Binny came good for India which is definitely a heartening sign for India going forward.

It's all over!  Rayadu claims the last wicket.  Bangladesh is all out for 240. They chased well, but none of their batsman managed to capitalise on the strong start. In the end, India managed to shake off their rustiness to get one win in their kitty. Suresh Raina was the unlikely star in the bowling department getting rid of 3 wickets. Kulkarni and Ashwin got couple of wickets apiece.

21:55 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

Ninth down now. Rubel Hossain gone for 2, mistiming a shot to long on. Raina gets his third scalp. BAN-224/9 after 44.

21:44 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

Nasir Hossain is dismissed. Ashwin. He was virtually the last danger guy holding fort for the hosts. Soon it may be all over for Bangladesh but India can hardly take any happy memories from this match having already conceded the series.  BAN-  221/8 after 41.

21:32 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

Mashrafe Mortaza departs for duck. Bangladesh is looking to up the ante in the power play, but they have simply lost too many wickets. Nasir Hossain is the last hope for the hosts currently not out on 28 of 26 balls. BAN-210/7 after 37.

21:16 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

OUT! This has been essentially the story of the night. Whenever Bangladesh has looked ominous, India has strike back. Now Binny gets rid of Sabbir, who played a busy hand of 43 in just 38 balls. India still though is not out of woods. One good partnership is wll what is needed to get the match in even balance. BAN- 198/6 after 33.4 overs

21:07 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

Bangladesh may have lost a flurry of wickets but they are continuing to score runs at a very competitive pace. Current partnership between Sabbir and Nasir is 40 just of 34 balls. BAN-188/5 after 32 overs.

20:44 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

Increasingly chances of a whitewash looking bleak for Bangladesh. Now Shakib Ul Hasan has been dismissed after playing a breezy knock of 20 out of 21 balls. Dhawal Kulkarni takes a brilliant running catch after Shakib top edged a slog sweep. Bangladesh is now reeling at 154/5 after 27 overs. They desparately need a partnership to stay in the hunt.

20:29 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

OUT!  Litton Das is now dismissed. Missed a straight delivery from Axar Patel and is trapped plumb. Bangladesh seems to be losing the plot here.  Litton out for 34. Bangladesh 121/4 after 23 overs.

20:19 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

OUT! Mushfiqur Rahim has been dismissed by Suresh Raina.  Like Sarkar, Rahim was looking dangerous. But part time bowler Raina has managed to do the work for India.  Credit though must go to Dhoni for taking a  sharp catch behind the wicket. Rahim departs for 24 from 30 balls. Shakib is the new batsman. Bangladesh needs one of the two batters to carry on till the 40th over atleast. A big partnership is the need of the hour. Indian spinners have managed to slow the flow of runs by operating in tight channels. Even Axar Patel is bowling well! BAN- 113/3 after 20

20:02 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

After surviving the jolt of Sarkar's wicket, Bangladesh is well on course to give India a run for their money in the third ODI too. Mushfiqur has jioned Litton in the middle and is scoring runs in a very even pace. They are particularly trying to take on Ravi Ashwin, who is the backbone of Indian bowling. In just 4 overs, Ashwin has conceded 22. BAN-96/2 after 15.

Litton das 22 (32)

Mushfiqur Rahim 18 (16)

19:43 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

OUT!  Soumya Sarkar who was threatening to take the game away from India  has been dismissed. Foxed by Kulkarni's slower, Sarkar holds out to Ashwin at mid-on. Ban- 62/2 after 9.2

19:34 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

50 up for the second wicket partnership between Soumya Sarkar and Litton Das.  Sarkar has done the bulk of the scoring. He is currently on 39 from 28 balls. Indian bowlers look to be helpless against classy Sarkar who is currently finding gaps with elan. Will we see Ravichandran Ashwin soon?  Ban: 59/1 after 8

19:15 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

After the end of 5 overs, Bangladesh are 34-1. Though Iqbal departed early on, Sarkar was in no mood to slow down. He smashed a six the very next ball and is playing with a good pace. If he gets going, Bangladesh may wellrun riot on the Indians. The latest over from Binny was a poor one, two consecutive fours and then three consecutive wides. He has conceded 13 runs from it.

19:04 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

Tamim Iqbal is lbw!

That's the start India wanted. Early blow to the hosts, though not in the most convincing manner. Dhawal Kulkarni bowls a good lenght delivery outside off stump. It is swinging and Iqbal is caught lbw. Great start for the visitors! Bangladesh are 8-1.

18:26 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

That's the end of 50 overs!

Put to bat first, India scored a humongous total of 317-6. Thanks to half centuries from Dhawan and Dhoni and vital contributions from Rayudu and Rohit Sharma. Mortaza was the pick of the bowlers today wih three wickets. Will Dhoni and Co. be able to defend this total? Or will Bangla tigers chase this down and whitewash the Indians?

18:17 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

Raina is BOWLED!

Mustafizur strikes again! The teenager cleans up Raina. But India have already crossed the 300 mark. India are 301-6.

18:02 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

MS Dhoni is OUT!

Great innings by the captain. India still have a chance to post a 300+ total. He is fooled by a slower delivery and tries to check his shot. It goes up in the air and Mustafizur takes a superb catch at long on. Suresh Raina is looking to attack now. Stuart Binny is the new man in. India are 268-5.

Rayudu is OUT!

Bangladesh might have just stolen a wicket here. Rayudu goes well outside the off-stup looking to hit it over the keeper. But instead it appears to hit his pad and caught by the keeper! A huge appeal by the bowler and given out. Rayudu is utterly disappointed with that decesion, but he has to go. He didn't seem to have a glove or bat on it! India are 252-4.

16:53 IST Wednesday, 24 June 2015

At the end of 31 overs, India are 172-3. The Indians losing wickets at regular intervals. Whenever a partnership begins to build, a breakthrough is provided for Bangladesh.
