Argentina v/s Germany Friendly, Dusseldorf: Argentina beat World Champions Germany 4-2 as Angel Di Maria, Sergio Aguero shine

FULL-TIME There goes the final whistle! Argentina have earned their revenge for the heartbreaking 0-1 loss to Germany in the World Cup Final. Two of Argentina's players - Angel Di Maria and Sergio Aguero - whose fitness problems severely hampered their side, have stood up to put up very good performances. The final score is Argentina 4-2 Germany.

90' Argentina have nearly all their players back on the edge of their area now, merely trying to keep the Germans away from scoring more goals. Not much longer for the game to end now.

87' Ricardo Alvarez comes in for Angel Di Maria, who almost certainly will end up as the hero of the night.

87' The resulting free kick meets with a header which sends the ball over the goal. Still 4-2. This has been a good rally by Germany though.

87' Germany make another run into the Argentine half, but as their get near the penalty area, the Argentine defence parries it away. Germany will get a free kick though.

85' Gaitan comes on for Sergio Aguero, who's performed well tonight. These are more time wasting tactics by Argentina than anything else.

81' Germany are holding a lot of the possession now and regularly getting balls into the Argentine half as they look to score two more goals.

80' Argentina substitute their keeper too. Mariano Andújar comes on for Sergio Romero.

78' GOAL! Maybe it is not over yet! The magical man Mario Goetze scores. Will this goal be a sign of doom for Argentina just as it was in the World Cup Final? But they are still 2 goals up. A beautiful right-footed curling kick from Goetze flies to the right of Romero, who dived at the wrong time.

76' The coming victory will be sweet for Argentina. They were knocked out of the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cup by Germany, the last time in a final in which Argentina had at least three easy chances in normal time.

74' Di Maria continues to launch artillery into the Germany penalty area even as all German hopes of a comeback are fading.

70' After a short time lying on the ground, some of Argentina's players get ready to take off again. Germany have been the better team in the second half and yet, have scored one and conceded two goals.

68' Argentina bring on Fernando Gago for Lamela.

67' Reus takes the pass after a good play into the box by Germany, but his resulting kick deflects off an Argentine defender to the right of the goal.

64' Germany get a free kick, into the box but Romero collects with ease.

60' Germany are now playing very high up. A combination of Goetze and Muller get close to Romero, but the Argentine defence is good enough to parry away the danger.

57' Germany's last substitution: Gomez goes out, World Cup Final goal-scorer Mario Goetze comes in.

57' Thomas Muller comes in for Andre Schurrle for Germany.

54' Almost a fifth goal. Di Maria beats a few German defenders again, but the German keeper holds it at the third attempt.

52' GOAL! It's raining goals in Dusseldorf! But this time it's Germany's goal. Both teams are not tightening up their defences. Argentina's defence messes up Germany's corner kick, and Andre Schurrle scores from point blank range.

50' GOAL! Argentina make it 4-0! A beautiful ball from the midfield finds Angel Di Maria, who puts a good run through the centre, then scores with the utmost ease!

47' GOAL! Argentina go 3-0 up as a free kick from Di Maria is received inside the box by Fernandez, who just manages a header. The ball hits the right post and then rebounds into the goal.

46' Germany substitute their keeper, Manuel Neuer, with Roman Weidenfeller. Interesting!

We are back for the second half. Germany have to convert their chances in this half, they failed to do so in the first half.

45' HALF-TIME At half time, Argentina have scored two goals to Germany's zero. A nice bit of revenge for the World Cup final, but can Argentina hold on the lead?

44' Gomez misses a chance again! This was a rebound off Romero which was inside the box, but Gomez's aim is way wide of goal!

41' GOAL! It's the second goal for Argentina and it comes from Erik Lamela. Angel Di Maria passes to Lamela from the right of the penalty area. Lamela gets the cross perfectly and shoots with his left foot to the right of Neuer, who simply kept staring.

38' Di Maria again causes panic in the German ranks. He ghosts by Durm once again, using the outside of his boot to attempt to pick out Aguero, but his cross is deflected into the path of Neuer by the German defence.

33' Podolski comes in for Draxler for Germany. Draxler was not looking good so he'll be relieved to be substituted.

32' Di Maria had a chance to score there, but his final ball was weak - slow and straight to Neuer.

28' Gomez! Gomez fails to score! After a struggle for possession, Germany's Kroos gets the ball and passes it to Gomez on the far right of the box. Gomez's kick though is not well directed and Sergio Romero collects.

20' GOAL! Argentina take the lead through Sergio Aguero! A wonderfully crafted goal! Zabaleta makes an overlapping run that Di Maria ignores. The Manchester United man instead elects to swing a glorious curling ball towards the six-yard area, where Aguero strides into space to convert!

15' Fifteen minutes into this game and Germany are playing smooth, though Di Maria looks like he could make a dent in Neuer's defence.
