IPL: Royal Challengers Bangalore v/s Delhi Daredevils: Bangalore lose Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli

Updates: The match encountered a delayed start as a persistent drizzle halted play.

Chris Gayle scored 22 off 22 balls before being castled by Laxmi Shukla. His leg stump went flying.

Bangalore are now 44/1 after 8 overs with Virat Kohli and Parthiv Patel at the crease

Virat Kohli has now been run out for 10, his poor run of form continues

This is a battle between two teams whose fortunes in the tournament are fast sinking. Royal Challengers Bangalore have won just 3 out of their 9 games, including losing 6 of their last 7 games. Delhi Daredevils are languishing at the bottom of the table with just 2 wins from 9 games.

For the RCB, the batting has clicked intermittently. Yuvraj Singh finally came good in the last game, but Chris Gayle might once again be sidelined with a shoulder injury which he sustained while diving in the last game. AB de Villiers has blown hot and cold, and Virat Kohli has mostly failed.

For Delhi Daredevils, the batting order has been changed too much. In the last game they made the mistake of holding JP Duminy down the order, which gave him very few overs to have a crack at the bowling. Kevin Pietersen seemed to be getting into good touch and yet, was out once again without making too many.

Moreover, both Bangalore and Delhi bowlers have been expensive. Rajasthan's Steven Smith and James Faulkner destroyed the RCB bowling towards the death overs, finishing off with 7 balls to spare - a match that Bangalore seemed to have in the palm of their hands.

Delhi's bowling has been even worse - they have been unable to defend totals four times at their home ground in Delhi.

Thus, Bangalore go into the match facing serious problems, but Delhi are in a no-comeback zone and would merely aim to finish the tournament on a high by winning a few matches.
