5:40 IST Friday, 12 December 2014

Nathan Lyon comes into the attack after two boundaries were struck in the last over. India are at 387/5.

This guy is eerie:

5:30 IST Friday, 12 December 2014

The ball isn't moving a lot, and India seem reasonably comfortable at this point. But who will crack first in this waiting game? Another maiden over, India 377/5.

5:26 IST Friday, 12 December 2014

The first few overs have passed and India are merely making an attempt to play out the early phase of this day. So far so good, but there have been a few shaky moments. Both Harris and Johnson have tested the batsmen.

5:19 IST Friday, 12 December 2014

It's almost a game of Russian Roulette when Mitchell Johnson is bowling at anybody. Phillip Hughes or not. Emotional Test, whatever. And it's not just that Johnson is bowling bouncers. The bouncers are quick, and accurate, and menacing. Rohit Sharma is playing and missing at a few too. Harsha Bhogle says it's a problem that Sharma does that on a benign wicket like Adelaide.

5:15 IST Friday, 12 December 2014

Oh! Wriddhiman Saha gets struck on the back hand from a Mitchell Johnson bouncer. This bowler is really dangerous, Kohli or not. Saha's also got a chest guard. India are 374/5, because Saha survived that over.

This almost happened:

5:07 IST Friday, 12 December 2014

End of the 1st over of Day 4. Sharma survives a loud appeal last ball. India 371/5.

And play begins on Day 4. It's Ryan Harris bowling to Rohit Sharma, who's batting on 33. Wriddhiman Saha is on 1.

Welcome to the LIVE coverage of Day 4 of the 1st Test between India and Australia, at the Adelaide Oval.

India staged a good fightback on Day 3 after Australia had declared on their overnight score of 517/7. India's hero was their captain Virat Kohli, who scored a fluent 115 despite being hit on the helmet with a Mitchell Johnson bouncer.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who had a horrid series in England along with Kohli, also came along with a sedate 73, and Murali Vijay made 53. India's score at the end of Day 3 stands at 369/5, with the visitors trailing by 148 runs.

While India's hopes of creating a winning situation are very bleak, they would be looking to add at least another 100 runs to put a degree of pressure on the Australian batting. India have to bat last, so they would be happy to give the Australians lesser time and runs to play with.
