Good Morning! After rain played spoilsport on Day 2 disrupting the play atleast four times, Day 3 began early to make up for lost time.

1:51 IST Thursday, 11 December 2014

Welcome to the coverage of Day 3 of the 1st Test match between India and Australia, being played at Adelaide. Day 2 was severely truncated due to rain, which means the match will begin early today to make up for time lost on Wednesday. We will be covering the match live from 5 am.

The 2nd day may have been truncated but India's bowlers, who had seen a glimmer of hope at the end of Day 1 with some late wickets, failed to truncate Australia's innings on Day 2. In a surprise, Michael Clarke, who had retired hurt with a back injury, came out along with Steven Smith. In the end, both cracked centuries before Clarke fell for 128. Australia lost no other wickets even as just 30.2 overs could be bowled on the day. However, Australia amassed 163 runs in these 30.2 overs, showing that India's bowlers were once again way too profligate for a Test match.

India for their part will be looking to get Australia out quickly, that is if Australia do not decide to declare overnight or soon into Day 3. A long hard day of consolidation awaits India, and this won't be easy given the Australian pace attack of Mitchell Johnson, Ryan Harris and Peter Siddle.
