An inspired David Warner shrugged off India's taunts and slammed a fantastic 102 on Day 4 of the Adelaide test.

Why sledging David Warner was not such a good idea at all!

Adelaide Test: Day Four - India gave David Warner a grand send off, but then.......

Australian David Warner looks in pristine touch and has just reached 66, thanks to some scintillating strokeplay, which has India groping for answers.

Varun Aaron, hammered all around the park by Warner, in the first essay, steams in and clean bowls the big-hitter, and decides to take up the mantle of 'chief sledger'.

Aaron and India give Warner a 'rousing' send-off, and chuckle on with glee as the Australian makes the long hard trudge back to the pavillion.

Turns out the delivery is a no-ball, which prompts umpires Ian Gould and Marais Earsmus to recall Warner back to the crease.

Warner races back...bat in tow...with a glint in his eye...and a point to prove!

'Come on...come on'!

Warner, incensed by the earlier taunts, launches into Aaron with shouts of 'come on', prompting the other Indian players to rush to the pacers support.

The scene resembles a pack of wolves trying to hound a prey, who is mercilessly outnumbered, and only defuses when Gould and Earsmus shoo away Warner from the wave of on rushing Indians.

Aaron, dumbfounded at Warner's sudded outburst, decides to jaunt back and formulates a plan to dismiss the Australian once again.

And finds out that sledging an Australian in full flow is not a great idea by any means!

'Come on' Aaron!

For the next few minutes, Aaron resembles a stick trying to break down a mighty rock, as none of the pacer's deliveries have the desired effect on the Australian.

Aaron tries every trick in the book to unsettle the determined Warner, but to no avail, as the Australian looks hell bent on dishing out the pacer a taste of his own medicine.

Verbal barbs, steely glances and probing deliveries are all met with a shout of 'come on' by the Australian, which perplexes Aaron to no end.

The most hilarious moment occurs when Warner, after flicking a single off Aaron, blows him a sarcastic kiss, a gesture which the pacer does not know to compliment, and is left scratching his head in embarrassment!

Pay back time!

The fiery Australian then starts flaying the Indians all around the Oval with a flurry of shots.

Warner pounds the Indians, like a wrestler would do to an opponent on the brink of collapse, and brings up his second century of the game.

Though Karn Sharma finally accounts for Warner a few minutes later, the damage has already been done, as the Australian scores 102, and recieves resounding applause by the Oval crowd.

Warner - 2 India - 0!

India learn a lesson...the hard way!

Events of the fourth day suggest that it is indeed a dangerous idea to wake up a beast from its deep slumber.

Yes, India did go wrong in trying to get under Warner's skin, at the wrong time, and learnt a harsh lesson, thanks to the Australian's inspired reply.

Warner resembled a Cheshire cat, full of mirth, as he walked back to the Oval pavillion to thunderous applause.

And it would be no surprise if the Indian batsmen have 'come on' ringing in their ears by the Australian fielders, come Day five...
