Schedule of the 17th Asian Games which begun on September 19

The 17th Asiad - the 17th Asian Games - are set to kick off in Incheon, South Korea on September 19. The 2014 Asian Games is scheduled to take place with 45 nations participating in Incheon with 439 events in 36 sports and disciplines set to feature in the Games. South Korea has twice held the Asian Games - in 1986 and 2002. 

45 nations will participate with 439 events planned. 36 sports disciplines will be on display. The opening ceremony will be held on September 19 at 6 pm local time. For India, these games are important, especially coming off a successful Commonwealth Games. Archery, mixed relay triathlon, judo team events are some of the new events introduced this time. India will be participating in events like wrestling, weightlifting, boxing, shooting, tennis, archery, badminton, table tennis and squash.

The Asian Games have been dominated by China, who last topped the medal table with 416 total medals including 199 gold. 2014 Asian Games host nation South Korea had finished second with 232 medals including 76 gold. India finished sixth in the last Asian Games in 2010.
