England defeated India in the 5-match Investec Test series in England 3-1 on Sunday, by winning the third Test by an innings and 244 runs. The series was peculiar in the sense that India lost two games inside three days, both being innings defeats.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan took to Twitter to rant about the defeat and celebrate in his own unique way.
He began by posting this 'new Indian cricket flag' as he called it:
The New Indian cricket flag.... pic.twitter.com/ivbC5XdtTi

This tweet sparked outrage from Indians:
@MichaelVaughan Previously used by England a few months ago in Australia.

However, Vaughan was already on an India-bashing spree:
England fantastic... India clearly have sight seeing trips booked in for tomorrow...#Pathetic
— Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) August 17, 2014
Slight Concern... I seem to be trending in India....!!! #3-1
— Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) August 17, 2014
Then came some obvious sarcasm:
Note to all England players... No dropping of your draws and watering the Oval pitch tonight please... #3-1
— Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) August 17, 2014
Vaughan also mentioned his own, older tweet predicting India's 3-1 defeat:
29.2 overs... 94 All out.... #3-1 #Boom pic.twitter.com/dKg6X0BNPy
— Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) August 17, 2014
He also tried to justify his tweets:
Indian cricket fans just accept it's banter.... Your team haven't performed.. #Fact

India's 1-3 loss was devastating not for the scoreline but for the magnitude of the last three defeats - 266 runs, an innings and 54 runs and finally an innings and 244 runs. However, Michael Vaughan's sarcasm ruffled a few feathers on social media and is unlikely to be taken lightly by Indian cricket fans. He was obviously joyous, but the emotion seemed to be directed more at India than at England.
