MS Dhoni has won it all, won't lift 2015 World Cup

There have been only two captains who have won the World Cup twice – Clive Lloyd and Ricky Ponting. Can MS Dhoni emulate them? Highly unlikely.

Both Lloyd and Ponting had two powerful planets in their horoscopes – Planets 'X' and 'Y' – that gave them two World Cup wins. During their times, the only coveted trophy to be won was the World Cup. The captain who possessed the best horoscope amongst the competing nations always won it.

Dhoni, born in 1981, also has two very strong planets in his birth chart – Uranus and Planet 'Y' – in exaltation. But unfortunately, he still cannot win the 2015 World Cup.

In modern times, there are too many tournaments. Dhoni has won the inaugural World T20 in 2007 and the 2011 World Cup. Besides, he has also won the Champions Trophy in 2013 and four club championships for Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni has, thus, squeezed out every possible ounce of karmic successes in him. As a captain, he has done it all. There is no more that can possibly come from Dhoni, definitely not in a tournament of such huge magnitude.

India's fate is also underlined by coach Duncan Fletcher, who probably exhausted his karma a decade ago.

The Indian team can be world beaters only under another captain. So, India can win this World Cup only if Dhoni gets injured and Virat Kohli replaces him. The nucleus of this squad can win a World Cup, but only in the future under a different captain.

India's biggest challengers in the knockouts are Australia and New Zealand. In the 1981-born Michael Clarke and Brendon McCullum, the two teams have captains who have as good a horoscope as Dhoni but haven't completely realised the potential yet. The fact that these two haven't won any ICC tournament or a club championship as captains yet makes them even more dangerous. South Africa, too, have a great squad. In fact, this World Cup can be won by any team other than India.

Unless shocked by Bangladesh, India will most probably bow out in the semifinals against Australia. If Australia or New Zealand enter the final, they will win against any team, with the only possible exception of South Africa.
In all probabilities, the World Cup might go to the southern hemisphere, with the final fought between the two Trans-Tasman cousins.
