Rain, rain, not again hope F1 drivers and teams

After the opening race of the season at Australia last weekend, the F1 circus moves to Malaysia. While all the drivers have all been saying that the Sepang International Circuit will be different, they are right and also wrong at the same time.

While the drivers and teams will all be hoping for a clear, bright sunny day to race so that the real strengths of the cars are revealed, the weather forecast predicts rain.

Racing fans will be excited as the thrills and chills are a lot more in wet conditions as strategy, car control and luck count more than pure speed and lead at the first corner and you win days, that tend to be a tad boring. The F1 world will be praying that the race is dry as extremely wet conditions may lead to the race being called off and half points awarded as the race is not fully completed.

In recent years more often than not the driver's championship has been very close with every single point counting as much as gold. Given such a scenario, full points will definitely benefit the drivers and teams.

Only the gods can say if the weekend will be dry or wet. Given that the race more likely will be wet like Australia, we can expect the same thing like last weekend—more slips, car control issues and drama on track.

A surprise winner is always a delight, so anyone on the grid in a wet race lottery has equal chances of being on the podium or getting a win. Felipe Massa will be hoping he benefits from the lottery if it rains on Sunday as he really needs a win to boost him, as will Pastor Maldando so he can prove that his win was not a one time thing and Nico Rosberg also will be having similar ambitions.

The other race winners—Kimi Raikkonen, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton will all surely like a win that will hopefully set the tone for another driver's title for one of them.

The Malaysaian GP qualifying and race are at 1:30 pm, India time on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
