Shoeb Mushtaq Khan slammed a fine double ton to put Al Barkaat Malik English School, Kurla, on top against IES VN Sule Guruji on Day One of the Giles Shield Elite group final at the Brabourne Stadium on Tuesday.
Khan cracked 216 from 268 balls to guide his team to a strong 329 for three in 94 overs against last year’s winners. His knock was studded with 25 boundaries.
Rithik Sharma (41) and Sumit Singh (34) contributed with useful runs for Al Barkaat.
Khan was happy but said he could he have done much better. “I am happy with the double hundred but it would have been great if I converted it into a triple,” said Khan.
