In a major development, the Juhu police have submitted the charge sheet in the sensational Juhu sundown party, against 51 arrested persons, including Indian cricketer Rahul Sharma. The chargesheet was filed before in the special NDPS Court on February 22. The two IPL players Rahul Sharma and South African cricketer Wayne Parnell were tested positive for drug. Wayne and 35 people have shown wanted.
Additional commissioner of police, west region, Vishwas Nangre-Patil confirmed the development. “The charge sheet has been filed only against the 51 people those were arrested,” Nangre-Patil told DNA.
The two IPL players Rahul Sharma and South African cricketer Wayne Parnell were also found in the party and their reports were also tested positive for drug. Patil confirmed that Sharma was arrested, while he said is not aware whether Parnell too was arrested in the case or not.
An officer said on condition of anonymity, “Earlier they have informed to the concerned embassy about Parnell, who was present in the party and had tested positive for consumption of drugs”.
The raid was conducted by Nangre-Patil along with more than 50 police officers at Oakwood hotel in Juhu on May 20, last year. Total 90 persons were detained in the party including Sharma and Parnell. Total 86 people including them were tested positive for consumption of drugs out of 90, remaining four persons, two men and two women tested negative.
The Kalina forensic science laboratory report stated that these 86 persons, 62 persons had consumed cannabis, 30 persons had consumed cannabis-plus-cocaine, 20 persons had consumed ecstasy-plus-cannabis, while one had consumed only ecstasy.
After the forensic report arrived a committee was formed including assistant commissioner of police, senior police inspector, an NGO person and a doctor and they would conduct a de-addiction programme as those tested positive and will be treating as victims.
“Several people have applied for rehabilitation programme and will start during the trial” said Patil.
