15-year-old has the highest score in Harris Shield.

Armaan Jaffer’s hunger for runs is insatiable. Following his 263 in the Harris Shield semi-final, the 15-year-old on Thursday scored a chanceless 473 (369 balls; 65x4 and 16x6) for Rizvi Springfield against IES VN Sule Guruji in the final — the highest individual score in the tournament.

Jaffer’s 437-minute stay at the crease is testimony to his temperament and patience. He was out when he top-edged off-spinner Heramb Parab while attempting a sweep. “It is disappointing not to score 500, but it is pretty satisfying to break the previous record. I never thought about it when I was batting. I enjoyed my stint at the crease,” said Jaffer, who had scored 498 in a Giles Shield match in 2010.

The previous highest individual score in Harris Shield was by his teammate Sarfaraz Khan (439 in 2009-10), R Nagdev (427* in 1963-64), Sanjeev Jadhav (422 in 1985-86) and his uncle Wasim Jaffer (400* in 1992-93).

Armaan Jaffer was also involved in a 631-run partnership with Siddharth Singh (177). The duo fell short of the famous 664-run partnership between Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli by 33 runs.  @rizvitaus
