Yes, tennis has been an eye-candy sport from time immemorial and it’s no different now. In fact, the glamour quotient has only taken an upward curve.
It’s highly unpredictable as to who will win the first Grand Slam of this season, but it’s even more difficult to determine who will bag the ‘Glam Slam’. There are contenders aplenty.
Amongst the ladies, it’s Maria Sharapova who still manages to grab quite a few eyeballs. Often drawing comparisons to a Greek goddess, the Russian is elegance personified. Then there is Serbian beauty Ana Ivanovic. Voted as the sexiest woman in tennis by a magazine, Ivanovic, as someone once said, is: “A beautiful face and a model’s body – simply a perfect woman.”
Also in contention, is the one and only Serena Williams who has garnered attention across the globe with her penchant for fashion, sans those outrageous outfit. Another Russian Maria Kirilenko also makes the list as does our very own Sania Mirza.
And when it comes to the men, well, that’s another long list. If it’s just about class and style, then there are few who can beat Roger Federer. And thanks to his sense of humour and a not-so-bad style statement, Novak Djokovic too has the X-factor. In the absence of Rafael Nadal, the third spot is taken over by another Spaniard, Fernando Verdasco, the muscle man. A surprise addition is Italian Andreas Seppi. The picture of him cooling off at Garden Square fountain not very long ago did wonders to his fan following.
