The total steel requirement of the Bandra Worli Sea Link included TMT/Plates/Structurals/Wire Ropes of around 28000MT (approximately). Total TMT consumedwas 22235 MT (Epoxy coated through M/s.PSL Corrosion Daman). Total TMT consumed from all sources was 22235MT out of which major share was from SAILi.e. TMT13780 MT. Higher diameter TMT i.e.36/40mm was entirely supplied from SAIL only. SAIL has supplied over 14,000 tonnes of steel for the project. Most of the Structurals/Plates were not being directly purchased from SAIL. However fabricated Plates (supplied through fabricators like Pratibha) have been consumed.

SAIL has been making value added steel meeting requirements of diverse segments. In 2008-09, several products were developed. For ISRO's Chandrayaan-1 Mission, SAIL supplied AISI 304L sheets for fuel and oxidizer tanks.
