It is always a very satisfying feeling to be associated with projects like Bandra Worli Sea Link. Efkon India is providing the Toll Management System and Traffic Management System for the project. The systems running in the toll plazas for collecting toll from road users is developed and implemented by Efkon. The system has been designed meticulously keeping users' convenience as the topmost priority. The main aim is to provide a faster and smooth transit through the toll plaza and over the bridge. The system offers options of cash payment, payment through smart cards and electronic toll payment. Dedicated lanes have been provided for the electronic toll payment. Traffic through these lanes shall be free flowing; meaning you need not stop to make the payment, a device installed in your vehicle (called an OBU, short for On Board Unit) will communicate with a road-side unit to do the automatic transactions. The smart cards and the OBUs are more like pre-paid cards which can be recharged and used in exactly the same way as you use a pre-paid card for you mobile phone. The main aim of installing the Traffic Management System over the bridge is safety of the travellers. The entire stretch of the bridge is lined up with CCTV cameras and emergency call boxes which are to be used by travellers in case of distress. The cameras are to keep a 24X7 monitoring of the sea link. Message boards are installed at regular intervals for keeping the users informed of the traffic as well as weather conditions.
