Icon Hospital, located on Manpada Road, opposite Mahavir Nagar, came into existence nearly three years ago and was born out of an association between six doctors who identified an urgent need to set up a multi specialty facility in Dombivli. Dr RK Varma is the chairman and his other associates are Dr Suresh Talekar, Dr J L Doga, Dr Anil Dixit, Dr Dilip Patil and Dr SG Phansalkar.
As I was guided through various departments of this multi-storey facility, Sanjit Paul chief operating officer, informed me that though Icon was well known for its state-of-the-art cardiac facility, they were a multi specialty hospital, also offering orthopedic and joint replacement procedures, laparoscopic or keyhole surgery, spinal surgery, neurosurgery on call and cancer surgery.
Icon also conducts chemotherapy for cancer patients. The hospital ensures availability of an anaesthetist, physician and cardiologist round the clock. The signs of professional management can be seen everywhere.
Medical history and specific details of all patients are computerised and feedback from patients is sought, even after eventual discharge. While at the hospital, patients are provided with special food, taking into consideration the nutritious dietary needs of each individual.
