On being asked how this idea came to him, Ghuge said, “A few months ago, my friends and I were discussing social issues and were trying to find out a unique way of making people aware. That’s when a friend suggested me to set up a television in the bus and I also agreed to it.“
He added, “I didn’t have enough money then. But I saved some part of my salary and bought a LED television. Initially, I was hesitant to inform my seniors about it. But they were impressed and gave me an affirmation. Consequently, we set it up in the bus.”
According to Ghuge, the distance from Nigdi to Wadgaon Maval is around 30 km. As many as 400 people travelled everyday by the bus.
“Presently, we are playing bhajan and kirtan every morning. And thereafter play documentaries on social issues like female foeticide, etc. As of now, we have a few documentaries but we are going to collect more such videos soon,” added Ghuge.
For effective sound system, Ghuge has installed four speakers. Ghuge stays with his family at Valhekarwadi in Chinchwad.
“One does not have to be educated enough to work for the betterment of society. Though, I am not highly qualified but I want to do something for the society,” said Ghuge who studied till standard XII.
Ghuge said that after setting up the TV in the bus, people have started recognising it. Moreover, the number of passengers too have increased.
“We used to have Rs4,000 daily collection. But after this initiative, the collection has crossed Rs5,000,” he said.
