CONCORDE OF THE TUNNELLING WORLD
A high-speed train from the UK to the US is almost a reality. The idea for the transport system of the future was proposed by the Institute for Public Policy Research North in a competition run by a think tank to boost business between Manchester and New York. Such technological advantages could make the dream of a transatlantic train journey a reality. The train would be contained within a tube underneath the Atlantic Ocean, with a service running in a perfect vacuum.


PRIVACY AT A WHOLE NEW LEVEL

Air travel has bypassed the aspects of comfort and affordability. But, what about privacy? Enter a stretchy 'rubber band', which involves using a simple piece of fabric wrapped around your headrest to create a privacy curtain. Designed by Idan Noyberg and Gal Bulka, this is ideal for long-hour flights and is positioned to support the neck.


JUMP THE TRAFFIC


We all hate traffic jams, especially in an urban jungle such as Mumbai. How we wish we could fly over the traffic and get to work faster. The Zero Personal Helicopter concept is an innovative way to avoid traffic jams and serve as a personal mode of transport. Additionally, it is ultralight and compact. This easy-to-fly helicopter was designed by Hector del Amo.


ROBOTIC SUITCASES


Carrying luggage from one terminal to another can be taxing. However, with robotic suitcases, we can give our muscles a break. The basic technology is the work of Spanish native Rodrigo Garcia Gonzalez. It works through a simple phone signal received by three sensors in the luggage that power the suitcase along. Still in its developing stages, Gonzalez says that if the signal is lost, the owner is intimated about it.


FINE DINE IN THE AIR


If fine dining on the ground wasn't enough, Jean-Marie Massaud's Manned Cloud, a flying hotel will enable you to fine dine in thin air. The whale-shaped airship, developed by French national aerospace research body ONERA, will accommodate 40 guests and have a range of 5,000 km. It can cruise at a speed of 130-170 km/h and can circumnavigate our planet in 10 days. It accommodates a restaurant, library, fitness suite and a spa.
