The verdict was long overdue, and should have been implemented long time back. This verdict has ensured that the Indian constitution has made the much needed progress. It is high time the members living on the fringes of the society are given their rightful place in the society.

The old British law was archaic, and was probably conceived when homosexuality was fairly unknown to mankind. Homosexuality is an individual choice. It is about time when homosexual sex should be treated as "normal" and not against the laws oF nature.
-Aditya Shah

Now that the verdict is out, hopefully homosexuals now won't be persecuted in the name of the law. With no rights and being labelled as criminals, homosexuals have suffered a lot. The verdict means now that's one bias less against them and we're on the steps to reparation them.

Sexual preference is a personal thing so how can law govern it. Ones' individuality cannot be suppressed. It is a relief to know that the people's viewpoints are changing. It is high time that the government gave them the rights they deserve. The next step should be to legalise it.
-Salma Nasrullah

I have nothing against homosexuals. Although, I think the verdict will uproot our culture and society as a whole. Homosexuality has always been a taboo in the society, therefore, now that it is being decriminalised, it can have side effect on the society.
-Kamini Benegal

It is unfortunate that we still have such discriminatory laws. Homosexuality is not a disease or a crime. This should help in removing the stigma that is attached with homosexuality. This ruling shows that we are taking the correct steps towards being a progressive nation and should re-affirm our trust in the judicial system.
-Sukamal Pegu

The law was made in the British era so it had to be amended. It is not only a good move but courageous one as well. We are a closed minded society so the law will help in changing people's mindsets towards homosexuality. Other states should follow because it's more of a personal choice over a state law.
-Roshini Dadabhoy

Homosexuality has been decriminalised in more than 66 countries and it is time we should also be doing the same. If we are talking of globalisation and are thinking of coming at par with other developed countries of the world we need to change. We as individuals should stop interfering in the personal lives of people.
--Junaid Shaikh

While western countries have legalised homosexuality, India is still lagging behind. If a court has decriminalised homosexuality then it should be made legal too. Although, it would be problematic for extremists to accept the law. In India people are still orthodox.

Decriminalisation of homosexuality by the Delhi court will not make the act saintly. This act is against human nature and creation. Homosexual and gay people need counselling and help. They are our brothers and sisters and at no cost are these people to be sidelined from the mainstream.
