Since the attacks last year, they have increased the security at malls. Has this helped, were they able to detect anything? Parking in malls is expensive and now closure of parking lots will hit us hard. AC Market at Tardeo is a shopping area, one cannot afford to close parking there. Police should keep a check on the activities. If terrorists have to plant bombs in cars they will do it despite such restrictions.

There are already lot of parking issues and space crunch. The police claim that this is a measure to beef up the security, so maybe they are right in their way. However I feel that many people will be affected by the closure of the existing parking lots. There are other measures rather than taking such rash decisions. The police and corporation officials should provide some alternative to people.

There is already shortage of parking in the city. If the BMC and the Mumbai police come up with other suitable options then they can go ahead with the plan, otherwise they can’t come up with such a random resolution. The demerits and merits and various consequences of this move need to be considered before implementing it. Any steps taken for the security of the city are welcome. But it should actually help in the long run. Any hasty decision will not always be appreciated by people especially if they are going to be inconvenienced. —Puneet Arora
I totally disagree with this decision. Closing parks lots in the name of security will not help. This is because despite closing 13 parking lots, there will be many other facilities that will still be existing. Right now there is a requirement for more parking lots in the city and we come up with such sudden decisions. The police need to concentrate on the security aspect, but I don’t think this is the way to go about.—Daryl Samuel
This will lead to unnecessary traffic congestion on the road. These are prominent parking lots, so what will be the replacement for them? Even if there are curbs and restrictions, there may be a terror attack anytime, they cannot predict one. Only after a tragedy does our police think of taking some measures but not all are practical or last long. I don’t believe that this is a move in the right direction. It will cause chaos. —Reeha Seth
