Mumbai: The Public Concern for Governance Trust (PCGT), a non-profit trust has been spreading awareness about turpitude. It collaborated with the Central Vigilance Commission while celebrating the Vigilance Awareness Week which was observed from November 3 to 7.
The PCGT used various ways to make people aware about how to bring transparency, honesty and accountability into the system.

Volunteers visited schools and colleges and educated individuals about the Right to Information Act. The NGO's associates held street plays, vigil marches and publicised the theme of awareness on placards.

To spread awareness against corruption, street plays were performed by students of the Rotaract Club of HR College across various locations on November 5 and 6. "Through the use of the RTI Act, volunteers can unearth information about the various decisions of the government. This will keep the law makers in check," said a volunteer.

Volunteers from PGCT also run a helpline for the Right to Information from Monday to Friday, between 10 am to 6 pm.Every year, the organisation honour an individual who has demonstrated an exemplary act of bravery.

The citation is named after Navleen Kumar, a firebrand activist who gave up her life fighting for the rights of tribals in the Vasai-Virar region. This year the award has been given to Shamim Mody for her relentless fight for the rights of tribals in Madhya Pradesh.
