Situated 936 kms from Mumbai via Nagpur and 45 kms from Chandrapur is the Tadoba National Park. The Tadoba National Park is named after the local deity Taru. The legend goes that the village chief Taru was killed in a fight with a tiger and since has been the principle deity of this place.
Tadoba-Andhari Tiger reserve was created in 1995. The reserved forest area covers 625.40 sq km including the Tadoba National Park, created in 1955 and Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary.
The climate here is hot and dry and the best time to visit the park is around February to May. This splendid museum of flora and fauna houses more than thousand species of birds, animals and insects. Tigers, herds of chitals, sambars, barking deer, chausingas, neel gais, sloth bears, Indian bison, wild dogs, wild boars and leopards can be sighted often here.
Tadoba, a heaven for wildlife enthusiasts is a rich, dry deciduous forest, a great place to walk and enjoy nature. The mesmerising trails of Tadoba could be a treasured experience of a lifetime.
