The first anniversary of the November 26 attacks is approaching; the occasion will certainly become a red letter day.
There are many felicitations and commemorations happening. Former IPS officer and lawyer YP Singh, is launching a music video in memory of those who sacrificed their lives in the Mumbai attacks today. “Post 26/11, the Mumbai police was singled for praise, but we believe that along with this it's also important to highlight the corruption that exists in the force,” said Singh.
He added, “So while highlighting the grandeur and valour of the force, we will also be highlighting the turpitude.”
The music video will showcase the bitter truth depicted amidst the romanticism of martial melody. “The martial tunes of this type have hardly been heard before. The power and thrill of music will be blended with the grandeur of visuals,” informed Singh.
Martial music and tunes is a genre originating in late 20th century in Europe. “We haven't composed a martial melody before. This will be unprecedented, in which we will showcase the contribution of the officers,” added Singh.
Soldierly music is often composed with a chorus, so this video titled Yahi Sach Hai will have a singing group along with singers Shivani Nigam, Nithlesh Raman and Vivek Shetty. Lyrics for the same have been written by Abrahim Aishk. The organisers want to keep the event sombre without much fanfare. “We want to ensure that it is not glamourous, hence there is no hype. This video will be also uploaded on Youtube today for people to be aware of those who sacrificed their lives,” says Singh. Controversies around the Mumbai attacks refuse to die down, various questions still remain unanswered. The bullet proof jackets that the officers wore on the fateful night are missing - this has revived the spectre of corruption.
Former Mumbai top cop Julio Riberio and Kavita Karkare, widow of slain Anti-Terror Squad chief Hemant Karkare have consented to be chief guests. The event will be held at Police Gymkhana, Charni Road, at 6.15pm today.
