Roger Federer is one of the greatest players in the world. Last year, he battled for almost five hours against Nadal and this year the match went on for four and a half hours. He deserved to win the final. Anybody with such determination deserves to be applauded.

Federer has a stature and class which sets him apart from the other legends. He has a very refined touch to his game. Calling him the greatest player will be looking down on the greats of Sampras, McEnroe, Brojn. But yes, Federer is definitely one of the best players.

Roger Federer has won all the Grand Slams at least once. Whereas, Pete Sampras only reached the semi-finals of the French Open in 1996. Though Pete Sampras has 14 grand slams in his name, but he has a pathetic record on clay courts. Sampras hasn’t dominated a court the way Federer does. He is like a king on court. Winning 15 grand slam titles at such a young age is not an easy task.

Yes, I think Federer is one of the best tennis players in the world. According to me, no other player would have been able to win 15 Grand Slams. The recent match that he won was a crucial one and it was not that easy to defeat Andy Roddick in the finals. He is one of my favourite tennis players.

No doubt that he is the best player in world. I think by winning this year’s Wimbledon he has proved it. At this stage it seems like no one can defeat him. Though last year Nadal won the Wimbledon, winning it six times is not at all easy. Roddick gave a tough fight to Federer but he still won the match.

There are players who can compete with Federer but what makes him different from others is his determination. His play is his justification for his success. He has played well and therefore if he has secured the position of world’s best Wimbledon player then surely he is. —Pramod Sonawne
