Shelling out Rs60 for just going to receive someone and picking up the person is as good as legal extortion. Mercifully, the protests by citizens have resulted in scrapping the scheme by airport authorities completely.

Incidentally, this arrangement is already in place at the Sahar Airport, there you have to go through the parking lot and pay the money, in case you want to pick someone. Is this also applicable to public transport, like taxis, autos and BEST buses?

The authorities explain that people park their cars and block the space. In that case, security personnel must monitor if vehicles are flouting rules and parking overtime. The airport is a public facility, then why is it that such charges are levied in the first place? We can however be certain that no political party, which are always ready to find a cause for agitation, will take interest in this matter. Parties are always interested in dipping their hands into the pockets of the public.

At this rate, the citizens will come to dread any development activity in the city, fearing that they will have to spend toll tax or any other such charge for using a facility, which has been built for them and by using their money.
