People follow him here more than Americans do
After Obama got elected, the whole world was hopeful and expected a lot of things to change. But now he is turning out to be just an average president. He has not been bad for India but nothing good has come out of it. I was in the US for a few months and I did not know much about him then. But when I came back I got to learn a lot more because people here follow him more than Americans.

I feel let down by the so-called messiah of hope
The US favours no one. They don’t help anyone without any hidden agenda. He is just another head of state who is visiting the country. What’s so special about it? His protectionist measures have worked against many Indians who wanted to go abroad and work. I just feel let down by him. He was touted as the next ‘messiah of hope’ but he is just another American president trying really hard to be popular.

Giving him the Nobel Peace Prize was pre-mature
The US has always been pro-Pakistan. Look at all the World Bank aid that they have been getting. What are we getting from them? Obama’s performance has been average so far and his popularity in the US too is fading. He has been okay for India so far but nothing concrete that one can rave about.I don’t think there is anything to dislike about him but I think giving him the Nobel Peace Prize was pre-mature.

India does not need any help from the US
Can the government declare a holiday for Obama’s visit? Just kidding, but I don’t really think we should hope for anything from it. India has its own resources and we can make a mark on the world stage. I think India should solve its problem than worry about what Obama might do for us. It seems like he supports India because after the 26/11 terror attacks he has pressurised Pakistan to be flush out terrorists.

We are just wasting too much money on the visit
How does Obama’s visit matter to any of us? We are not getting any relaxations while applying for a US visa. We are just wasting a lot of money on his visit. This while cause traffic jams and discomfort for the common people. I think he has a very good public relations team and hence he has a good image. He doesn’t really affect us as we are not American citizens. We have better things to worry about.

Can’t understand his stand on Pakistan — friend or foe?
Barack Obama is selfish, as is his country. I don’t blame him for being selfish though. He has to think about his own country first. But the one thing I don’t understand  his and every US president’s stand on Pakistan... Is he their friend, ally, enemy or what? You can’t be friends with both India and Pakistan on a fair ground. You have to choose one party and that’s why US keeps changing its stance.
