More skywalks are the need of the hour

After the success of a skywalk at Bandra East, the MMRDA has got into action with several skywalks being constructed. It will certainly help in easing the traffic flow, since there will be fewer pedestrians disrupting the movement of traffic.

There is a proposal to construct a skywalk at Mahim West, but there is opposition to the project from local residents.

It is difficult to understand the resistance. Mahim residents should understand that skywalks, which are being constructed in other parts of Mumbai, are also causing some inconvenience to local residents. But residents are willing to experience some amount of disturbance, because once constructed skywalks will not only by a boon for locals with also to commuters who will be visiting the area.

Due to the continuous flow of pedestrian traffic from Mahim West to the religious shrines, vehicular traffic gets held up a number of times. There are continuous bottlenecks especially during rush hours and on special religious occasions.

Ghatkopar skywalk
I would like to thank the state government for constructing a skywalk at Ghatkopar Station. This will reduce the number of commuters walking on the road. Concerned authorities must look into extending this skywalk upto Vidyavihar Railway Station and Lokmanya Terminus Railway station and also to Ghatkopar East.
