Nothing really has changed since 26/11 terror attacks last year. After a year, the fear of being a victim of terror is still around. There is an air of suspicion and fear in every Mumbaikars mind. There is always a fear of another similar attack. Even after the flag march by Force One with its newly-acquired machinery was done on the first anniversary of the attack, it only brings in momentary satisfaction.

The attacks were caused due to the failure of intelligence and ineptitude of the government. Before the attacks, it was clear there were intelligence reports of a threat to hotels in Mumbai through the sea route. This vital piece of information was ignored.
Also the handling of the situation of getting NSG commandos to Mumbai was messed up due to bureaucratic bottlenecks. It could have been clearly avoided resulting in a two-hour delay which could have otherwise saved precious lives. The lone terrorist Kasab was caught on camera killing innocent citizens mercilessly at CST still languishes in the jail, as the judiciary is taking time to give a verdict. The matter could have been resolved by fast track courts, since there is clear evidence. The policemen are still to receive the bullet proof jackets. The two ministers who resigned on grounds of taking moral responsibility for these incidents are back in the government.
