Mumbai: There is a lot of positive sentiment and festivity in the air
I have already decorated my house with diyas and rangoli. I have already eaten a lot of different varieties of sweets and I'm looking forward to having much more. I think Diwali is the biggest Indian festival celebrated by everyone. Also Hindus welcome the new year, so there is a lot of positive sentiment in the air. I remember when I was young, I used to get scared of bursting crackers since while lighting a sparkler I had accidentally burnt my mother's hand.

Will visit both temple and church, fest is multi-religious
I will be hanging out with my friends and I'm excited about watching fireworks at Marine Drive. I will be visiting a church and a temple, since my mother is Hindu and father is Catholic, so I follow both religions with equal fervour. I will also be attending the puja at my grandmother's place. Ienjoy Diwali celebrations every year. I want to buy lots of crackers and eat plenty of good food. The festival is just a reason to eat sweets and enjoy.--Stephanie Felizardo
I'm especially looking forward to gorging on delicacies
will be going to Marine Drive with my wife to burst crackers to bring in Diwali festivities, after that we will going out for dinner. I'm a Muslim so our festivities will be a little different. We don't have particular rituals like Hindus, but we distribute sweets to our employees and exchange greetings. During my days in college, I used to enjoy spending time with friends during Diwali. I'm looking forward to the festivities and I will catch up with old friends. Delicious sweets are the star attraction of the revelry.

Looking forward to bursting firecrackers with my friends
going to buy loads of crackers and fireworks. I also look forward to savouring lot of sweets and confectionery. Since I'm Catholic by faith, I will be going to the church and praying along with my family. My best memories of the festival are during my college days. We would visit the homes of our friends. This season, I look forward to feasting on sweetmeats and having a big blast with fireworks. I love the community celebrations. It brings people from different religions together.

While practices have changed, the charm is still the same
Diwali is one of my favourite festivals. I'm excited because my relatives will come home today and we will celebrate the festival together. There will be pooja in which we offer varieties of sweets to Goddess Lakshmi. Later we visit the temple to obtain blessings of our family deity. We adorn the whole house with diyas and decorate the house. But there is no display of fireworks. Earlier when I was young, I would wait to be gifted new apparel. We would then burst fire crackers and light sparklers. Today the excitement has diminished, since we buy apparel often. Earlier my mother would prepare sweets, but now we prefer to order them from sweetmeat shops. But still the charm of Diwali hasn't decreased.

Everyone is eagerly awaiting the carnival of lights and prosperity
We will start the day by having a puja at home. Then I will also be meeting some old friends. I will be buying gifts for friends and family. During Diwali, I enjoy shopping and gifting the most; it has its own charm. I had a memorable Diwali last year. I was at my farm house with old friends and enjoyed celebrating the festival in a non-traditional way. I will also be attending a party on Saturday night and will be having lots of sweets. This is one festival that I eagerly await. The whole city is lit up which gives it an aura of positivity.
