Has vigilantism become order of the day?

The corrupt can sympathise with Rathod
This act may be the result of someone being frustrated with the slow trial of Ruchika. The individual may be outraged that a corrupt policeman might have done this. Loopholes in the judiciary, delay in justice and misuse of power by the powerful are some reasons that are making people angry and frustrated. This compel them to take law into their hands.

It could happen to SRK tomorrow
It’s sad that the youth of the nation have to take law in their hands to fight for a prolonged case. The tardy pace of the judiciary is creating the need for people to dispense justice. What has happened to Rathod can happen to Shah Rukh Khan, in the aftermath of Sena’s threats. Frustration, mental stress and illiteracy can also influence people to take law in their hands.

Even innocents may be targeted
Such incidents surely won’t fetch disgraced former Haryana DGP Rathore any sympathy. Instead this incident might have made Rathod feel guilty of what he is being accused of. This might influence others to follow suit, but one cannot always resort to such tactics, as even innocent people have to face the music. The decision by the high court to hold in-camera proceedings in this case is justified.

We need to have faith in the system
There are two aspects to it. One is that no punishment is enough for such an outrageous act. Second, the time for awarding the sentence by the authorities is testing our patience. But at the same time, such an act of irresponsibility does not augur well for the justice system. So there is no other option, but one must learn to be patient and have faith in the nation's judicial system.

Has happened to infamous undertrials
There have been instances where people have taken law in their hands. Even when Mohinder Singh and his accomplice were arrested for the gruesome Noida killings, people had publicly attacked them. This is because the legal proceedings in our country move at a snail's despite enough evidence. So people resort to vigilantism and take law into their own hands.
