Now when the city has been going through a water shortage, every drop counts and everyone is doing their best to conserve water and spread awareness about the save.

The Rotaract Club of Mithibai College organised an event called ‘Operation Save H2O’. The project is essentially a campaign to make people understand that water is a valuable resource and it’s high time people must stop wastage of the precious resource.

The inauguration held at Mithibai College was attended by many former students. TV artistes like Bhisham Mansukhani, Sumeet Saigal and Vile Parle legislator Krishna Hegde were present on the occasion. “After the inauguration ceremony, we proceeded to Silver beach. From there we walked across the whole beach stretch till Juhu. We wanted to make people understand about the importance of saving water and with that peopleput their handprints on a cardboard canvas to endorse the motto of the project,” said Jeet Tanna, organising chairperson of the project ‘Operation Save H2O’.

Along with this procession, they also distributed pamphlets with tips to make people take measures to save water. “We are glad with the people’s response and Operation Save H2O was a grand success. Many people responded to this event. Legislator Krishna Hegde and TV artiste Bhisham Mansukhani inaugurated the ceremony by giving their handprints and signatures,” added Jeet.

He added, “They also gave a short speech on how to save water. Pamphlets were distributed and around 200 people responded to it with positive results thus making the project a meaningful initiative.”

The Rotract Club of Mithibai has been conducting socially relevant plays and events for a long time now. The last campaign they conducted was ‘Don’t drink and drive campaign’.“I have been a part of the social initiatives for almost a year. The responsibility of handling this project and witnessing a good response from the people isgreat,” Jeet added.

Along with handprints, they also got over 150 signatures for the campaign. Along the way, students shared useful tips on saving water and addressed queries.
