No dearth of quality institutes in city
When foreign universities come in, one needs to take care that they don’t become the preserve of the rich. Reservation is not the answer to create equality in education. Institutions must undergo quality checks to ensure that the quality of knowledge imparted is not diluted. India doesn’t have any dearth of educational institutions, but it fails to ensure standards.

May compel Indian colleges to upgrade
This is a great move and it will provide new avenues to students. Few educational institutes provide students with the requisite degree of excellence. There are some centres of excellence in India. But many of them don’t have the right faculty and environment which encourage students to do their best. It will also give a tough competition to existing colleges and B-schools. Shikha Shah

Will alter existing scenario radically
With the passage of the Foreign Educational Institutions bill 2010, decks have been cleared for the entry of foreign varsities. Today it has become difficult for a student to get admission and so we find that the students looking for opportunities to study abroad. After campuses are setup in India by the foreign institutions, it will result in a reversal of roles. Indian institutions may try to provide similar facilities.

Make learning affordable to all
I welcome the move and will be glad if the universities set shop soon. This will open options for students and will also increase the quality of education. But, I’m unsure if this is a solution to the paucity of educational institutes in India. For that the government needs to come up with planning and ensure not just good standards but also affordable education.

Ensure proper regulation & guidelines
I’m not sure how this initiative will resolve the crisis, because people will still travel abroad to acquire degrees. Foreign universities will compete with domestic institutes and overcharge, which may go against the interests of common person. Allowing foreign universities is a two-edged sword and need to be regulated effectively.
