Why do you think sexual harassment is widespread in Indian sports? What can be done to prevent it?

India's national game has once more become its national shame. A member of the Indian women's hockey team has submitted a letter to Hockey India accusing coach MK Kaushik of sexually harassing her.

The player said one of the coaching staff had asked for sexual favours and used vulgar language during the recent tour of Canada. All the other members of the team have spoken out in the player's support.

Former Olympic swimmer Nisha Millet, too, has spoken out, among many other former Indian stars, saying that harassment in Indian sports is nothing new. Millet said the hockey scandal was only the tip of the iceberg and most sportswomen suffer in silence for fear of jeopardising their careers. Others, however, dropped out of representing their country in sports.

Why is sexual harassment widespread in Indian sports? How can it be prevented? Is having women coaches and staff for women's teams the solution?
