The Delhi-bound Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express was held hostage by pro-Maoist organisations on October 27, to demand the release of jailed People's Committee against Police Atrocities (PCPA) leader Chhatradhar Mahato.

The train is expected to arrive at New Delhi Railway Station on October 28 afternoon after a seven-hour detention at Bashthala in West Midnapore district. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel are escorting the train to Delhi.

However, now that the hostage drama in one of a series of recent attacks by Maoists has ended, politicians have launched a blame-game. The latest being Nilotpal Basu of the CPI(M), who has accused railways minister Mamata Banerjee of being in cahoots with the Maoists.
