OSO

The girls liked it, the boys didn’t

Pros: The chemistry between Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone is really good and they look like the perfect couple. The songs are outstanding, especially Dard-e-Disco. The song with 31 stars in it is like a cherry on the icing.
Cons: The movie on the whole is average. Farah Khan seems to have tried her best, but the film was not up to the mark. The biggest flaw in the movie is the story because it’s a very old concept.
Verdict: If you just want to pass  time on a Sunday, you can go and see it. But if you miss the movie, you won’t live to regret it.
Anup Jaiswal

Pros: SRK is looking extraordinarily fit and sexy. His new haircut is looking damn good on him. I think his six-pack abs are really going to work. Deepika and Shah Rukh make for a very good couple. After this movie, the 70s fashion is going to come back. The surprise element in the movie makes it even more interesting. It’s better than we expected.
Cons: The comedy is a little exaggerated and Padukone needs to improve her acting ability.
Verdict: Everybody should go and see this movie, especially if they don’t want to miss SRK’s new look.
Isha Goshar

Pros: It’s a nice movie. Everything in it entertains audiences. SRK is, as usual, amazing in the movie. Farah Khan is the perfect commercial director. Shreyas Talpade has done a good job. Comedy is the soul of Om Shanti Om especially Shah Rukh’s role. The music is very soothing and you can actually feel the emotion. The movie has met all my expectations.
Cons: Deepika Padukone is not as good an actor as we were expecting. The story is also a little old, but it’s ok.
Verdict: Everybody should go and watch the movie.
Rachna Saula

Pros: The songs are ok, but they sound and look better in the trailers. Deepika Padukone is looking decent. There is one scene with Akshay Kumar and he is amazing in it.
Cons: I am really disappointed with the film and now I regret having gone for it. There is no story, and I don’t know what message they were trying to get across. The concept of rebirth is so old and it shows that the filmmakers were not creative enough.
Verdict: If you have lots of money to spare, then go for Om Shanti Om. Otherwise don’t waste your time, money and energy on it.

Saawariya

If only the end had been different

Pros: The movie has a very good concept, one that has not been seen before. Ranbir Kapoor is simply superb. He has all the mannerisms of his grandfather and possesses similar charm and star quality. Rani Mukherjee, as usual, is her brilliant self.
Cons: I was very disappointed with the end. It was a little bit of a mood-spoiler. The movie seems more like a fairytale, which makes a few things hard to digest at times. Also, the movie has too many songs.
Verdict: It’s worth a watch, if only for Ranbir Kapoor and the look of the movie. I’d give it a three out of five.
—MS Niharika

Pros: Ranbir Kapoor is, in one word, awesome. The guy is a definite star and seems to be good at everything: looks, dancing and acting. The presentation of the film is brilliant, like in all Sanjay Leela Bhansali films. Rani Mukherjee seems to be in her element too, and the title track stays in your mind for a long time.
Cons: The end is a huge disappointment. Sonam Kapoor is totally miscast. The heroine needed to be someone to die for, which Sonam clearly is not. The story also loses pace in parts.
Verdict: A very good film, I’d definitely recommend it to others.
Ankur Bhatnagar

Pros: Saawariya is among the best-filmed ones, and the sets are to die for. Salman Khan, as usual, is super cool, even though in a small role. Ranbir Kapoor looks very promising as a newcomer. However, he seems to be a replica of his grandfather, which might work against him in the long run. He should develop his own style.
Cons: The end comes as a shock and not a very good one. Maybe, if presented differently, it would have worked. Sonam Kapoor is just okay. I was expecting big things from Sanjay Leela Bhansali, but it didn’t happen.
Verdict: It’s an okay movie. It is alright for a one-time watch.
Sharat Chandra

Pros: Ranbir Kapoor is a treat to watch in his first film. The film’s sets and cinematography are excellent too. Rani is natural to the core, and the title track is really hummable. A lot of effort seems to have gone into making the film, and it’s visible.
Cons: Ranbir’s character is that of a do-gooder, who doesn’t have anything in life to cheer about and ends up a loser. The movie is meant to be more philosophical than realistic, but due to the end, the philosophy doesn’t exactly work.
Verdict: The mammoth expectations of a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film aren’t exactly met. —Akshita B
