On Monday, comedian Mallika Dua shared a post on her Facebook profile to highlight the extent of sexual harassment that women stay silent about.
She finally spoke up, using the hastag me too.
"Me too ... in my own car. My mother was driving while he sat at the back with his hand under my skirt the whole time. I was 7. My sister was 11. His hands went everywhere inside my skirt and on my sister’s back. My father who was in a different car dislocated the ba*****’s jaw with his bare hands later that night," she wrote on her Facebook page.
Dua isn't the first person to speak about sexual harassment on an online platform. While people have come out in the open in the past, Sunday and Monday saw social media flooded with messages, mostly from women, who tagged their profiles to indicate that they have been sexually harassed or assaulted.
The voices opened up on Sunday after Hollywood actress Alyssa Milano tweeted a note that read "Suggested by a friend: If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote "Me too" as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem."
If you’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted write ‘me too’ as a reply to this tweet. pic.twitter.com/k2oeCiUf9n

Don't say you have a mother, a sister, a daughter...
Say you have a father, a brother, a son who can do better.
We all can.#MeToo
Please RT if you've ever crossed the street because there were a group of people whom you thought would catcall/whistle/harrass you.

The movement started in response to the Harvey Weinstein scandal and its ensuing fall out.
Weinstein was disgraced after several women accused him of sexual misconduct. In addition to losing his job and his wife, Weinstein was stripped of his membership in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Saturday.
On Friday, #WomenBoycottTwitter also trended to highlight the online abuse they faced on the micro blogging site. Twitter founder Jack Dorsey to create a thread to highlight some effective changes to tackle online abuse.
